Colorado's Largest Snowmobile Network

Grand County's snowmobile trail system is the largest in Colorado — over 300 miles of trails connecting Grand Lake to Granby, Fraser, Tabernash, Winter Park, and the surrounding mountain terrain. The system is maintained by multiple snowmobile clubs including the Grand Lake Snowmobile Club.

Grand Lake is the traditional hub of the network — the town sits at the junction of multiple trail corridors and has a concentration of rental and guide operations. Most trail access begins within a mile of Grand Lake Village.

Trail Types and Terrain

The trail system offers terrain for every skill level. Groomed connector trails between towns are highway-width and suitable for beginners — these run at lower elevations through valleys and meadows. The high-country loops climb to 9,000 to 11,000 feet and offer challenging terrain for experienced riders.

Multi-day sled trips are possible within the Grand County network — staying in Grand Lake for a base and riding a different trail corridor each day without retracing routes.

Rentals and Guided Tours

Multiple rental and guide operations in Grand Lake provide equipment for visitors who don't bring their own sleds. Two-up sleds are available for riders who want to bring a non-riding passenger. Guided tours provide navigation, local knowledge, and a safety companion for first-time riders and those unfamiliar with the trail system.

Book rentals well in advance for peak winter weekends — Presidents Day, Christmas week, MLK weekend, and school holiday weeks fill quickly.
