Dog-Friendly Cabins at Grand Lake Cabins
All four Grand Lake Cabins properties welcome dogs with advance notice. Up to two dogs are allowed per stay; for more dogs, contact the hosts at 303-588-4472 before booking. A dog fee applies per stay. The large decks and outdoor spaces at each property give dogs room to enjoy the mountain air.
Dogs in Rocky Mountain National Park
Dogs are allowed in RMNP but with significant restrictions. Per NPS policy, dogs must be on a leash of 6 feet or less at all times. Dogs are prohibited on hiking trails, in the backcountry, and in park buildings. They are permitted in parking areas, campgrounds, and on paved roads only — this means dogs cannot accompany you on unpaved trails inside RMNP, including the Colorado River Trail.
Hiking days in RMNP will typically require leaving your dog at the cabin. Plan accordingly — arrange for someone to stay with the dog or use a local pet-sitting service. Always verify current NPS pet regulations at nps.gov/romo before your trip, as policies can change seasonally.
Dog-Friendly Activities Near Grand Lake
The trails in the Arapaho National Recreation Area and National Forest around Grand Lake are generally more permissive for dogs than RMNP. The Shadow Mountain Trail, Lake Granby trails, and Monarch Lake Loop in the Arapaho NRA allow dogs on leash.
Grand Lake Village's boardwalk is dog-friendly in the summer — the village is a dog-welcoming community. Leash requirements apply on the boardwalk.
