Parker to Grand Lake
From Parker, E-470 provides access to I-70 west — from there, US-40 north at Empire climbs Berthoud Pass before Winter Park and Granby, reaching Grand Lake in under 2 hours. Parker's position on the southeast metro edge makes the E-470 connection efficient.

Getting Out of the Southeast Metro
Parker's position on the southeast edge of the metro makes E-470 the natural first leg, connecting to I-70 west without crossing the city. From the interstate the route leaves at Empire for US-40 north, climbing Berthoud Pass across the Continental Divide before descending to Winter Park, Fraser and Granby.
The whole run is under two hours in normal conditions. In winter the pass is kept open but does close for heavy snow and avalanche work, so check cotrip.org before setting off.
A Property for Every Group Size
The four cabins sleep 11, 12, 16 and 16. The Mid-Mod Cabin at 11 is the smallest and the most architecturally distinct — built in 1972 and fully remodelled in 2022 in a mountain midcentury modern style, with a hot tub and a game room running ping pong, foosball and more than sixty arcade games.
The Lakeside Cabin sleeps 12 and sits roughly 30 feet above Shadow Mountain Lake, with a deck fire pit and a porch swing. Its driveway is steep, so 4WD is the sensible choice for a winter arrival.
Bringing the Dogs
All four properties welcome dogs, up to two per stay, with a dog fee applying per stay. Confirm the details when booking.
One local planning note: Rocky Mountain National Park does not allow dogs on its trails, while the surrounding Arapaho National Recreation Area and national forest land is far more permissive. Groups travelling with dogs generally alternate between the two rather than picking one.
The Park Is Five Minutes Away
Every cabin sits about five minutes from the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, which is the quieter of the park's two front doors. The Estes Park side takes the majority of annual visitors; the west entrance at Grand Lake consistently does not.
Inside, the Kawuneeche Valley follows the headwaters of the Colorado River and Trail Ridge Road climbs from the valley floor when the season allows. Moose and elk are regularly seen there at dawn and dusk.
Rooms That Are Actually Rooms
The gap between a listing that says it sleeps sixteen and a property that genuinely accommodates sixteen is where most group bookings go wrong. The Lakeview Lodge has six bedrooms and five bathrooms; the Pickleball Lodge four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a loft; the Lakeside Cabin five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Living space matters as much as bed count. The Lakeview Lodge seats all sixteen at covered outdoor dining, and every property has a full kitchen and a game room so the group is not confined to one room after dark.
