Nashville to Grand Lake
The Denver flight is a common nonstop, and the drive from the airport takes about two hours — I-70 west, off at Empire, then US-40 north over Berthoud Pass through Winter Park and Granby.
Rental vehicle size is the usual oversight for a group flying in together. Book for luggage as well as passengers, and choose 4WD or AWD for a winter trip.
Worth More Than a Weekend
With a flight at each end, most Tennessee groups book four nights or more. That is enough for a full day in the national park, a day on the lake in summer or the snowmobile trails in winter, and a day that never leaves the property.

Altitude Is the Adjustment

Hydrate more than seems necessary, keep the first night light, and leave the demanding hike until you have slept at elevation once.
The Setting
Grand Lake is Colorado's largest natural lake, with a marina running boat rentals in summer and kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing on it and on Shadow Mountain Lake next door. The western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is five minutes from every cabin.
