Grand Lake Village Grocery
Grand Lake has a grocery store in the village carrying staples, fresh produce, dairy, meats, bread, snacks, and beverages. For a 2 to 3 night stay with a small group, the village store is sufficient for stocking a cabin without needing to drive further.
Mountain town grocery stores typically have higher prices than urban or suburban markets. If your group is cost-conscious, a larger pre-trip shopping run at a Denver or Front Range grocery before departing — for non-perishable items — reduces the overall grocery spend.
Check current store hours directly, particularly for off-season visits when hours may be reduced.
Granby Shopping (15 Minutes South)
For longer stays, larger groups, or more comprehensive grocery selections, Granby — approximately 15 minutes south of Grand Lake on Highway 34 — has larger grocery stores with fuller inventories. A Granby grocery run on arrival day is the most efficient approach for groups of 8 or more staying 4 or more nights.
Granby also has additional service options that Grand Lake village may not carry: pharmacies, hardware stores, and large-format retailers for any items you forgot to pack.
Grocery Planning Tips
Make a detailed grocery list before arriving — organized by meal and day. Don't rely on making multiple grocery runs during your stay; a single well-planned arrival-day run saves both time and money.
For large groups: plan which meals are cabin-cooked and what ingredients each meal requires. Estimate quantities carefully — cooking for 16 people requires substantially more of every ingredient than cooking for 4. Bulk buying at Granby for staples (pasta, rice, canned goods, coffee) is more efficient than multiple small restocking trips at the Grand Lake store.
