The Network
Grand Lake's snowmobile trail system is the largest in Colorado and connects the town to Granby, Fraser, Tabernash, and Winter Park through 300+ miles of maintained corridors. The Grand Lake Snowmobile Club maintains trail signage and grooming in coordination with Grand County's trail management.
Trail access begins at the edge of Grand Lake — within minutes of any Grand Lake Cabins property. The variety of terrain and distance covered makes Grand Lake the premier snowmobile destination in Colorado.
Guided Tours
Guided snowmobile tours are recommended for first-time riders and groups who want to focus on the scenery rather than navigation. Local guide operations provide equipment, helmets, and trail knowledge — they know which routes are in the best condition on any given day and where to find the best views.
Tours range from 2-hour introductory rides to full-day high-country adventures. Most outfitters can accommodate large groups with advance booking.
Self-Guided Riding
Experienced riders can rent sleds and ride independently using the publicly available trail maps. Maps are available at rental operations in Grand Lake and through the Grand Lake Snowmobile Club. The trail system is signed, but mountain navigation experience and a physical map are important — cell phone GPS coverage can be unreliable in parts of the network.
Always ride with a partner or group, carry a satellite communication device in remote terrain, and inform someone of your route and expected return time.
