Granby as Your Support Town
Granby is the practical hub for Grand Lake cabin visitors — larger grocery stores, a hospital, hardware stores, and additional dining options that complement the more limited selection in Grand Lake village. A Granby arrival-day grocery run is the recommended approach for any cabin stay of 3 or more nights.
Granby's grocery stores are significantly larger than Grand Lake's village store, with better selection for fresh produce, specialty items, and the volume of groceries needed for a group of 12 to 16 guests.
Granby Ranch and Recreation
Granby Ranch is a ski and snowboard mountain located just outside Granby — approximately 30 minutes from Grand Lake Cabins. The resort is family-oriented with beginner-friendly terrain and full rental and ski school services. In summer, Granby Ranch offers mountain biking and outdoor recreation on the converted ski terrain.
Lake Granby — Colorado's second-largest reservoir — lies just south of Granby town, providing boating, fishing, and hiking access without an RMNP entry fee.
Getting to Granby
From Grand Lake, drive south on Highway 34 through the Kawuneeche Valley and past Shadow Mountain Lake Dam to Granby — approximately 15 minutes. The road is well-maintained and the drive passes through scenic Grand County terrain.
Granby has a gas station, which is the closest fuel stop to Grand Lake — fill up in Granby rather than in Grand Lake village for best pricing.
